CONTAINER HOUSE PROTOTYPE

Tai O Village is located in the Pearl River Delta, between Hong Kong and Macau, just downstream from Guanzho, in a heavy shipping area. The traditional homes in the village occupy a footprint above the water almost exactly that of the standard 40' steel shipping container. Because of the relatively short life span of the average shipping container, their watertightness, their ready availability, and low cost, this would be an excellent model for a housing type for ready-made infill housing in Tai O.
